Description

In the north tract of the Patuxent Research National Wildlife Refuge is an observation tower that overlooks a lake where wildlife can be observed. The tower has an abandoned look and appears to need some grounds maintenance as vines and shrubs has partly overgrown it. It is accessible however and the appealing rustic look is accentuated by an abundance of wild sunflowers growing profusely at its base.
